Difference between Taunt, Taut and Tout

Taunt means to jeer, mock, scoff, or tease someone.

Taut means tightly stretched or tense.

  • For safety reasons, the rope is kept taut for the rock climbers.

Tout means to promote.

  • Bill has been touted as a possible mayoral candidate.
